Several trips were scheduled. First one being Moody Gardens in Galveston, including the Aquarium, Rain Forest Pyramid, and other attractions. The second trip was to the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory, where astronauts trained under water. Also, visited the Space Center (NASA) in Houston.

Dale Barker reported on book sales. We have 131 books, HITTING THE BEACHES, our history book of 430 pages in stock.

Permission was given Grady Coker to organize a First Armored web site.

Chick Cutright reported on the 4th Marine Division Memorial Park (old camp on Maui WWII). There is a First Armored plaque on the Monument, dedicated in March 2000. A wreath was placed at the dedication in memory of the First Armored Amphibian Battalion which was attached to the 4th Marine Division during WW II.

A special guest was Capt. Owen P. Lillie's (A Company) daughter. Capt. Lillie was killed on Guam. She brought back memories of her father reading a letter written to her from her father prior to his death. Also, present was Moe Burn's (Burnsey-Company A) daughter. It was very special of her to attend after her father recently passing away; Mom, Jean Burns, is doing OK. Lil Flinn wife of decreased Bob Flinn (Company B) attended and was a welcome guest.

#01There are no battalion newsletters published for the First Armored Battalion. Each company representative is responsible for keeping their company members informed of battalion activities.

General procedure to be followed for the 2000 reunion is outlined on thisweb site.
